This week, I presented Frenetic at the Investorβs Day of one of our Venture Capital (VC) firms, Bonsai. VCs use this event to show their Limited Partners (LP) where they invest the money. Therefore, it isnΒ΄t a technical audience, and Frenetic is not a classical e-commerce π€·ββοΈ.
Three days before, I watched the football world cup, Spain - Germany, making bets with our German investor. It was an excellent example for explaining the importance of Power Electronics. I researched my home appliances and calculated their energy consumption during the match (2 hours) or the day for the fridge, and here is the result.
And I did some extrapolation, assuming a lot of German and Spaniards people would watch the match.
And why this 400 GWh are not the actual consumption?
This is the energy you are paying to the electricity company. Between 10% and 20% of this energy is lost in heat during the conversion process of each device.
These black boxes close each device or inside each device are losing energy transformed into heat.
Our work as Power Electronics Engineers, Managers, or Executive is to improve their efficiency as much as possible without increasing the cost. A high cost will reduce the expansion of technology.
Itβs impressive how small investments during the design stage can be translated in a huge impact during the product life cycle, saving 1-2% of energy.
Just during the world cup, using 400GWh as an example per match and saving 1% of the energy, we could save between 256GWh in total.
VC Money at Frenetic
We are growing so fast thank you to our customers and the investments of VC firms who believed in our mission to connect great magnetic designs with great manufacturers. In the last three years, they have supported us in analyzing expansion strategies (we are in 20 countries) with specific teams on the ground. For example, we created one year ago our company in California (USA) and a team of 2 persons to work with the US customers we are already a team of 7, and our revenues have grown x4.
Thank you to the VC investments. We can fund research with the best universities or hire best-in-class engineers in the magnetic field. To be honest, Iβm impressed with the last results. Still, we have a lot of work to do. Some of our users report some differences in their experiments, and we open an investigation with each case, which allow Frenetic to evolve very fast.
But, to be honest, the most exciting part is done by our customers and friends. They are building the future, space satellites, electric vehicles, and medical equipment. Thank you to the almost 200 customers we are working with.
