👋 Hello Supergineers! Dr. Molina here! 👨🔧
On the day of my wedding, I gave a speech and I talked about the history of the Spanish blind swimmer, Enhamed Enhamed, who was an Olympic medallist.
He said something that really shocked me. He explained how he prepared for the races.
Enhamed spent hours thinking about every step of the race he would run. He was having a drink with his friends, who weren´t blind, and while the friends were talking about the people around, he imagined himself jumping into the pool. He reviewed every detail. He felt the nervousness, the smell of the pool, and the public screaming.
On the day of the race, he had been thousands of times in that place. He wasn´t nervous because he transformed that race into known space.
Since that day, every time I have had to focus on something, I have tried to imagine myself in that situation until I dominate it.
I imagined myself at my wedding.
I traveled through complex meetings at work.
I imagined myself solving the Power Electronics industry 😜.
And the result has been always much easier than I imagined. Because 90% of the fears we create, never appear.
I enjoyed the situation, the nervousness, and even the unexpected things.
We are able to create a lot of imaginary problems.
What if…
Wait, but if He…or They…
What will they think if…?
However, during the coming weeks I’m taking a different strategy.
I’m planning to park the mind trips. I’m going to be as present as possible with my wife, with my family and friends, and with my dog.
I’m going to get bored on a Tuesday, watching the coffee on the table.
I will get lost reading Seneca on the mountain or the beach.
I will eat homemade food and drink beer without taking pictures or reviewing social media.
I’m going to feel my breath in my chest.
I’m going to explore every second of the time like it was the most important day of my life. Because, actually, today, now, it’s the most important moment of our lives.
The past has already gone.
The future doesn´t exist.
Enjoy the moment.
